The Association’s “Efficiency and Productivity Improvement Project” Completed
“TSRSB (Association of the Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey) Efficiency and Productivity Improvement Project”, which started in May 2004, has been completed. The Association’s organizational structure, the tasks and responsibilities of the units have been redefined.



New Appointments in Management
As of 22.11.2004, Mr. Erhan Tunçay has been appointed as the Secretary General of the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey, and Assoc. Prof. Suna Oksay has been appointed as the Deputy General Secretary responsible for Insurance Law, Financial Regulations, EU–International Relations, and Education-Publishing-Organization.

Mr. Zihni Metezade, who has served as Secretary General by proxy so far, has been appointed as the counselor to the Board of Directors. Furthermore, Mr. Okan Utkueri is still carrying on his activities as the Deputy General Secretary responsible for life and non-life technical groups.



The Association’s Magazine “Birlik’ten” Will Be Published in May with New Content
Our Association will publish the magazine called “Birlik’ten” with new content in May, in order to contribute to the development of the insurance sector in Turkey, to encourage original works in this field and to have the present works published. The magazine will be published querterly and will consist of sections such as Reviews, Researches, Interviews, insurance education in Turkey, and EU and Insurance.



2004 Premium Production Results Announced
The direct premium volume of the Insurance sector in 2004 has reached YTL 6.624.999.352 with an increase of 33%.

The Association Brought the Eurasian Insurers Together in a Meeting
The Association has organized the “Eurasian Insurers Meeting” within the scope of the “Development of the Insurance Sector in Eurasian Countries” project jointly managed by the Turkish Republic Treasury and Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency, in Istanbul on 20-23 December 2004.



The Association Has Organized the First “Primary Problems of the Turkish Insurance Sector through Turkey’s EU Membership” Meeting
A seminar called “Resolving the Problems in Implementing the Uniform System of Accounts” has been organized in the Association’s conference room on 24 February 2005, within the scope of the “Primary Problems of the Turkish Insurance Sector through Turkey’s EU Membership” Meetings.



First National Insurance Symposium Will Be Held on 24 May 2005
Our Association will organize regular national and international symposiums and conferences every year with the participation of government representatives, bureaucrats, academicians, sector managers and EU experts, in order to help the Turkish Insurance sector to comply with the EU standards, gain a competitive advantage and realize a stable growth.

Within this context, the “First National Insurance Symposium” will be held at Istanbul Hilton Hotel on 24 May 2005.

Furthermore the date of the “First International Insurance Symposium” to be organized by our Association is set as December 2005.



Our Association’s Application to the European Commission TAIEX Unit Has Been Accepted
Our Association’s project application made on January 17th to TAIEX (Technical Assistance Information Exchange Unit) of the EU Commission Enlargement Directorate, has been accepted.

A two-day seminar regarding “EU Insurance Regulation and Its Implementation” to be presented by leading insurance experts of the EU will be held in Istanbul on 23-24 June 2005.
