The Association published the fourth book of the series “Research and
Studies on Insurance” entitled “Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in
the Insurance Sector: Implementation in the EU”.
The book which has been prepared by Assoc. Prof. Suna Oksay, Deputy
Secretary General of the Association, and Tolga Ceylantepe, Legal
Specialist of the Association, dwells on issues such as the settlement
of insurance disputes by alternative ways like arbitration, mediation
and ombudsman. The book also provides information about the
implementation in the EU. The Association has distributed the copies of
the book to all related parties in the Turkish insurance sector.

Insurance Accounting Principles: Comparison with the International
Financial Reporting Standards” |

The Association
published the fifth book of the series “Research and Studies on
Insurance” in March 2006, entitled “European and Turkish Insurance
Accounting Principles: Comparison with the International Financial
Reporting Standards”.
The book which has been prepared by Dr. Metin Sariaslan, an Insurance
Regulation Specialist, dwells on issues like the insurance accounting
regulations in Turkey, EU insurance accounting principles and
comparisons with the IFRS regime. The Association has distributed the
copies of the book to all related parties in the Turkish insurance
sector.

The Association has organized a seminar on “Insurance and
the Problems Encountered by the Disabled” |
|
|
On 3 March 2006, the Association organized a seminar for blind people on
“Insurance and the Problems Encountered by the Disabled”. The attendants
of the conference were the members of the “Six Point Blind People
Association”, members of the Turkish Parliament, academicians and the
media.
The opening speeches of the seminar were made by Assoc. Prof. Suna Oksay,
Deputy Secretary General of the Association of the Insurance and
Reinsurance Companies of Turkey; Mr. Murat Demirok, the President of the
Istanbul Branch of the Six Point Blind People Association and Mr. Ali
Arslan, Member of the Turkish Parliament.
During the seminar presentations were made on the institutional
structure of the Turkish insurance sector, insurance products, health
insurance, life insurance, discrimination on the Law on the Disabled and
the protection and extension of the social and legal rights of disabled
people.

The Association has held Its Fifth Insurance Training
Seminar at Adnan Menderes University, Yenipazar Vocational School on 10
March 2006 |

In the process of
the Turkish insurance sector's harmonization with the European Union,
the Association, within the scope of the training activities which it
has performed to increase the insurance awareness in public, continues
to arrange training seminars. The seminars were first launched in May
2005 in insurance vocational schools and colleges providing insurance
training. The fifth insurance seminar has been held at Adnan Menderes
University, Yenipazar Vocational School on 10 March 2006.
During the seminar, presentations were made on “Institutions of the
Turkish Insurance Sector and TSRSB”, “The Structure and Evaluation of
the Turkish Insurance Sector”, “Private Pension System” and “Customer
Relations in the Insurance Sector”. Prior to the seminar, the students
were provided with booklets prepared by the Association, enshrining all
the presentations made during the seminar.

The Association held a panel on the “Evaluation of the
Draft Mortgage Law” |

The Association held a panel on the “Evaluation of the Draft Mortgage
Law” on 31 March 2006.
The draft law is currently discussed in the Planning and Budget
Commission of the Turkish Parliament and it has various aspects like
insurance, credits and secondary markets.
The opening speeches were made by Mr. Hulusi Taskiran, the President of
the Association, and Mr. Doğan Cansızlar, Chairman of the Capital
Markets Board of Turkey.
During the panel, speeches were made by Mr. Mustafa Açıkalın, Member of
the Turkish Parliament; Mr. Akif Hamzacebi, Member of the Turkish
Parliament; Mr. İbrahim Dönmez, Deputy Chairman of the Capital Markets
Board of Turkey; Assoc. Prof. Suna Oksay, Deputy Secretary General of
TSRSB; Mr. Önder Halisdemir, President of the Working Group on Security
Banking at the Banks Association of Turkey; Ms. Michelle Gabay and Mr.
David Nolan from Genworth Financial.
As a guest speaker, Mr. Wolfgang Kaelberer, EU Director of the German
Pfandbrief, delivered a presentation on the implementation in the EU.

Premiums for year 2005 have been publicized |

Premiums for year 2005 have been publicized. Accordingly, the total
premium income has been 7.810.148.671 YTL, including life and non-life
sectors in Turkey. In comparison with year 2004, there has been an
increase of 15.10 %.
