The Association has published the book entitled “1st International Insurance Symposium”, organized with the cooperation of the World Bank, in English and Turkish

The Association has published the books of the first international symposium “Insurance and Reinsurance for Natural Catastrophe Risk”, which was held on 8-9 December 2005, in co-operation with the World Bank.

The above-mentioned books will be distributed to all domestic and foreign representatives of the sector. The books enshrine the presentations made by domestic and foreign insurers, reinsurance brokers, executives of national catastrophe funds, specialists of the regulatory bodies of the insurance sector and other specialists, on various issues like financing natural catastrophe risk and methods to offer cheaper insurance products to householders.

The second issue of the “Journal of Insurance Studies” is published

The Association published the second issue of the “Journal of Insurance Studies”, which is a compilation of the studies of academicians working in various universities around Turkey and specialists of insurance companies and institutions. The journal examines both technical and theoretical subjects, especially on the agenda of the insurance sector.

The journal is composed of two parts, the first one being “Articles approved by the Scientific Board”, which includes 12 researches about insurance, qualified to be published after the examination of the Board and prepared in line with the rules of scientific style, and the second one being “Articles not presented to the Scientific and Advisory Board”, which includes 8 studies, researches, analysis and translations, prepared by the academicians, bureaucrats, specialists of the sector, students of actuary and insurance, and approved by the editor. The second issue of the journal is published in 285 pages, upon the high interest of the academicians and all related parties.

For the third issue of the journal, the deadline for articles which will be published after the approval of the “Scientific Board” is the end of September 2006.
 

The Association participated to the OECD Insurance and Private Pension Committee Meeting held in Geneva, on 6-7 July, 2006

The Association, participated to the 77th meeting of the OECD Insurance and Private Pension Committee, which was held in Geneva, Switzerland, on 6-7 July, 2006.

The delegations of the OECD member countries and the representatives of the private sector, together with the representatives of the international institutions such as CEA, IAIS (International Association of Insurance Supervisors), WFII (World Federation of Insurance Intermediaries) participated to the meeting, where the topics having priority on the agenda of the global insurance sector were discussed.

“Insurance Regulation and Liberalization”, “Financial Education in the Insurance Sector”, “2007-2008 Programme of Work and Evaluation Process”, “Longevity Risks and Insurance”, “Network on the Financial Management of Large Scale Disasters”, OECD activities and other international activities were among the topics discussed during the meeting.
 

The Association participated to the 52nd General Assembly Meeting of International Chamber of Commerce Turkey National Committee, on July 18, 2006-08-01

The Association participated to the 52nd General Assembly Meeting of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Turkey National Committee, on July 18, 2006, at Ceylan InterContinental Otel.

M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Chairman of the Executive Board of ICC Turkey National Committee, inaugurated the meeting, where the activities and the budget of ICC for 2005-2006 were discussed and approved.

The meeting ended with the presentation made by Prof. Dr. Ünal Tekinalp, President of the Commission of the Turkish Commercial Code.
 

The premiums of the sector for the first half of 2006 is announced

The total premium production of the Turkish insurance sector by the end of June 2006, is announced. Accordingly, life premiums reached YTL 792 million, by an increase of 25 %, when the non-life premiums (excluding TCIP) reached YTL 3.94 billion, by an increase of 22 %, and the total premium production reached YTL 4.7 billion by an increase of 22.81 %.
 

The number of policies for the first half of 2006 is announced

The number of policies for the first half of 2006 is prepared according to the figures collected from our member companies. Accordingly, 12.4 million policies, of which 1.9 million are life insurance policies and 10.5 million are non-life insurance policies, were written by the end of June, 2006.
