TOBB Administration visited the Association

Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), together with a delegation, visited the Association on the 27th of December, 2006, and held a meeting. At the meeting, attended by the executives of the companies of the sector, Hulusi Taşkıran, Chairman of the Association, held a speech. Mr Taşkıran stated that Turkish insurance sector had a long way, when compared with the insurance sectors of the developed countries. Hulusi Taşkıran highlighted that, within this framework, the law, necessary for the insurance sector, had to come into force as soon as possible.

Erhan Tunçay, Secretary General of the Association, gave information about the history of insurance both in the world and Turkey. Mentioning the size of the sector and premium production rates, Mr Tunçay also gave information about the regulations of the insurance sector on the way to the EU. Erhan Tunçay underlined the activities of the Association in his presentation as well.

Prof. Dr. Güven Sak, Vice-Chancellor of TOBB Economy and Technology University, in his presentation, analysed the economic developments in 2006, and spoke about the expectations for 2007.

Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Chairman of TOBB, in his presentation based on economic datas, stated that the Turkish economy, in the last years, performed a remarkable growth but that growth had to be sustainable. Underlining that in this dimension, a successful economic administration was needed, Chairman of TOBB, presented their reform and strategy suggestions for sustainable growth.
 

The Association hosted the Belgian students

A group of students from Bruges University, Business Administration, in Belgium, visited the Association on 18th of December, 2006. Assoc. Prof. Suna Oksay, Deputy Secretary General of the Association, accepted the group accompanied by Prof. Dr. Niyazi Berk from Bahçeşehir University.

Sema Bilgin Özyol, Education, Publications and Projects Specialist, and Onur Acar, Fiscal and Financial Regulations Specialist, from the Association, made presentations about the Turkish insurance sector and the Association, and answered the questions of the students.
 

The Association participated to the “Insurance Intermediation in the EU Conference”

The Association participated to the “Insurance Intermediation in the EU Conference” in Antalya, organized by the Association of the Insurance Agencies of Antalya (ANSAD), on 26th of December, 2006. During the conference Berna Özşar, EU Specialist of the Association, made a presentation titled “EU Institutions and EU Single Insurance Market”, where Assoc. Prof. Suna Oksay, Deputy Secretary General of the Association, made a presentation titled “Insurance Intermediaries in EU Legislation and the Regulations brought by the Insurance Draft Law”.

Following the conference, Assoc. Prof. Suna Oksay and Berna Özşar were presented plaquettes by the Executive Board of ANSAD, regarding their contributions to the conference. The executives of the Association, presented the “Insurance Intermediation in the EU” book to the officials of ANSAD, which was published by the Association as the 8th book of the “Insurance Studies and Researches” series.
