The 2006 General Assembly of the Association has been held

The 2006 General Assembly of the Association has been held on 27 April 2006 in the conference hall of the Association with the participation of company representatives.

The General Assembly commenced with the opening speech of Mr. Hulusi Taşkıran, the President of the Association and was chaired by Mr. Mehmet Aydoğdu, the General Manager of Gunes Sigorta. During the General Assembly, Mr. Erhan Tuncay, the Secretary General of the Association, made a speech about the activities of the Association, legislative developments, activities of harmonization with the EU acquis and the tasks carried out by the Association in the international field.

The General Assembly was concluded with a reception with the participation of the members of the Association and guests. 
 

The Association has paid study visits to the Italian National Association of Insurance Companies (ANIA) and the Norwegian Financial Services Association (FNH)

As the representative of the entire insurance sector in Turkey, the Association attaches utmost importance to establishing a steady and functioning dialogue platform with other national associations in the Single European Insurance Market.

Within this context, the Association paid a study visit to the Italian National Association of Insurance Companies (ANIA) on 10 April 2006 and the Norwegian Financial Services Association (FNH) on 28 April 2006. During the meetings, the Association, its structure and functioning mechanism were introduced, ideas and experiences were exchanged on various issues including how these associations and insurance markets conduct relations with the European Union and how they cope with the challenges of the single insurance market.

The possibilities of future collaboration in various fields have also been discussed during the meetings. 
 

The Second National Insurance Symposium of the Association, entitled “Global Insurance Markets and the Competitiveness of the Turkish Insurance Sector” will be held on 16 May 2006

The Second National Insurance Symposium of the Association, entitled “Global Insurance Markets and the Competitiveness of the Turkish Insurance Sector”, will be held on 16 May 2006 in Istanbul.

The symposium will be a distinctive gathering that will scrutinize significant issues in the insurance sector as well as identify key changes that are likely to take place in the future. During the seminar, distinguished speakers and leading experts will confer on issues like the competitiveness of the Turkish insurance sector and competition problems in global insurance markets; measures for enhancing competitiveness in the insurance sector in the fields of liability insurance, life insurance and health insurance; the role of intermediaries and other actors in enhancing competition in the sector.
 

The Association has held Its Sixth Insurance Training Seminar at Istanbul University, Vocational School of Social Sciences on 5 April 2006

In the process of the Turkish insurance sector's harmonization with the European Union, the Association, within the scope of the training activities which it has performed to increase the insurance awareness in public, continues to arrange training seminars. The seminars were first launched in May 2005 in insurance vocational schools and colleges providing insurance training. The sixth insurance seminar has been held at Istanbul University, Vocational School of Social Sciences on 5 April 2006.

Prior to the seminar, the students were provided with booklets prepared by the Association, enshrining all the presentations to be made during the seminar.

The seminar commenced with opening speech of Prof. Dr. Nuzhet Kahraman, Head of the Insurance Education Programme. Prof. Kahraman extended his gratitudes to the Association for organizing the seminar.

During the seminar, presentations were made on the “Institutions of the Turkish Insurance Sector and TSRSB”, “The Structure and Evaluation of the Turkish Insurance Sector”, “EU Institutions and the Single Insurance Market”, “Public Relations in the Insurance Sector” and “Solvency II”.
 

The Association has held Its Seventh Insurance Training Seminar at Kocaeli University, Kandıra Vocational School on 13 April 2006

The seventh insurance seminar of the Association was held at Kocaeli University, Kandıra Vocational School on 13 April 2006 with the participation of about 250 students.

Prior to the seminar, the students were provided with booklets prepared by the Association, enshrining all the presentations to be made during the seminar.

The seminar started with opening speech of Mr. Emre Ozkan, Head of the Insurance Education Programme. Mr. Ozkan extended his gratitudes to the Association for organizing the seminar at Kandıra Vocational School.

During the seminar, presentations were made on “The Structure and Evaluation of the Turkish Insurance Sector”, “Institutions of the Turkish Insurance Sector and TSRSB”, “Life Insurance and the Private Pensions System” and “Turkish Insurance Catastrophe Pool and Its Functioning”.

The eighth insurance seminar of the Association was held at Celal Bayar University, Demirci Vocational School on 20 April 2006.

During the seminar, presentations were made on “The Structure and Evaluation of the Turkish Insurance Sector”, “Institutions of the Turkish Insurance Sector and TSRSB”, “Life Insurance and the Private Pensions System” and “Turkish Insurance Catastrophe Pool and Its Functioning”.
