Turkish Insurance Law has been approved by the Turkish Parliament

The long awaited “Insurance Law” has been approved on June 3, 2007 at the General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament. The Law is expected to be approved by President Ahmet Necdet Sezer in the coming days and published in the Turkish Official Gazette. The Law will then enter into force.

The approval and coming into force of the “Insurance Law” has been long awaited by insurance environs in Turkey. 
 

The Association participated the “Seminar on the Enhancement of the Impact Analysis Capacity of the Turkish Private Sector in the EU Harmonization Process” held by the Economic Development Foundation (İKV)

The Association participated the “Seminar on the Enhancement of the Impact Analysis Capacity of the Turkish Private Sector in the EU Harmonization Process” held by the Economic Development Foundation (IKV) on May 23, 2007, in İstanbul.

The opening speeches were made by Turkey’s Chief EU Negotiator and State Minister responsible for Economy, Mr. Ali Babacan, Secretary General for the Secretariat General for EU Affairs, Ambassador Oguz Demiralp and President of the Economic Development Foundation (IKV), Mr. Davut Ökütçü.
During the seminar, presentations were made on the importance of the enhancement of the regulatory impact analysis capacity of Turkey and the Turkish private sector during the EU harmonization process.
As it is known, Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) is a policy tool designed to identify and quantify, where possible, the impact of new regulations. It can also be used in the review of existing regulations. In essence, RIA attempts to clarify the relevant factors for decision-making through the comprehensive and systematic compilation of information. It encourages policy-makers to make balanced decisions when considering legislative action that trade off possible solutions to a problem, against the wider economic and distributional goals.
 

The Association participated the “Seminar on the EU Legal Harmonization Process” held in co-operation with TODAIE and EIPA

The Association participated the “Seminar on the EU Legal Harmonization Process” held in co-operation with TODAIE (Turkey and Middle East Public Administration Institute) and EIPA (European Institute of Pblic Administration) on May 9-10, 2007, in Ankara. During the seminar presentations were made on “EU Membership Criteria and the Adoption of EU Legislation”, “Impact of EU Law” and “Harmonization of Turkish Law”. Workshops were also held durig the seminar.
 

The Association has given its support to the education seminar held by the Turkish Insurance Institute in Mersin

The education seminars which had been initiated by the Association in May 2005 for the Turkish insurance sector's harmonization with the European Union and the development of the insurance profession in Turkey, will from now on be held by the Turkish Insurance Institute (TSEV). In this context, TSEV has held its first seminar at the Mersin Vocational School.

During the seminar, presentations were made on the “Institutions of the Turkish Insurance Sector” and “The Structure and Evaluation of the Turkish Insurance Sector”. The Association was presented by Mr. Onur Acar, the Financial and Fiscal Affairs Specialist, who made a presentation on the “Single EU Insurance Market”.

Prior to the seminar, the students were provided with booklets enshrining all the presentations made during the seminar.
