2007 End of Year Statistics have been published on the Association’s website. According to data compiled from insurance companies, total premium production increased by 13,29% and reached 11 Billion TRY.

On 29 February 2008, the Annual Sector Dinner hosted by the Association took place at Esma Sultan Mansion with the participation of senior guests from insurance companies and members of working committees of the Association.
 

The Association held a meeting on "Accident Reports"

On 25 February 2008, the Association held a meeting on "Accident Reports" following the publication of the “Circular on Accident Reports in Case of Accidents with Economic Loss" by the Turkish Undersecretariat of Treasury.

During the meeting, the procedure established with the coming into force of the circular was introduced to the participants. Mr. Erdinç Yurtseven, Deputy Secretary General of the Association made a presentation on the implementation of the accident reporting system and Mr. Mehmet Üst, Director of the Motor TPL Insurance Information Center (TRAMER) provided information on the procedures to be conducted by the Center and the infrastructural studies that are being held.

                                                  
 

The Association summarized and translated the CEA Report on “The European Motor Insurance Market 2007” to be sent to members

The Association summarized and translated the CEA Report on “The European Motor Insurance Market 2007” as an attempt to inform the sector about the developments in the European motor insurance market within the context of the harmonization process of the Turkish insurance sector with the EU acquis. The report will be sent to the related departments of member companies.
 

The Association participated to the Seminar on “The Enhancement of Regulatory Impact Assessment Capacity in Turkey’s Harmonization Process with the EU” held by the Economic Development Foundation

On 14 February 2008, the Association participated to the Seminar on “The Enhancement of Regulatory Impact Assessment Capacity in Turkey’s Harmonization Process with the EU” held by IKV (Economic Development Foundation).

During the seminar, speakers gave information on the aims and benefits of the “Regulatory Impact Assessment” method within the context of the harmonization process of Turkey with the EU acquis. In addition to the introduction of the RIA method, a case study was also presented to the participants. 
 

TAIEX Seminar on “European Legislation on Reinsurance and Insurance Groups” was held on 8 February 2008 in Istanbul with the cooperation of the Association and TAIEX

A one-day seminar on “European Legislation on Reinsurance and Insurance Groups” was held on 8 February 2008 at Best Western Eresin Taxim Hotel in Istanbul, with the cooperation of the Association and TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Unit of DG Enlargement).

In the first part of the seminar, Mr. Jean-Marc Gollier from Belgian Banking, Finance and Insurance Commission made a thorough presentation on Directive 2005/68/EC on reinsurance, its institutional and industrial background, main provisions and implementation in Belgium. In the second part of the seminar, Mr. François Tempé and Ms. Hélène Denis from the French Insurance Control Authority (ACAM) provided detailed information on Directive 1998/78/EC on supplementary supervision of insurance undertakings in an insurance group, its necessity, importance and implementation in France.

Participants from insurance and reinsurance companies, public authorities and universities attended the seminar.

The Association participated to the CEA Single Market Committee Meeting

On 6 February 2008, the Association participated to the CEA Single Market Committee meeting. The meeting was attended by the delegations of national insurance associations, CEA Secretariat and CEA Single Market Committee Secretariat. During the meeting, topics like competition law, contract law, insurance guarantee scheme, substitute retail investment products were discussed in detail. A presentation was also made on insurance guarantee schemes in the EU.
