RELATIONS WITH CEA AND EUROPEAN INSURANCE ASSOCIATIONS
Association & CEA
The Association is a member of the European Insurance and Reinsurance Federation (CEA), which represents more than 5,000 insurance and reinsurance companies in 33 national member associations across Europe.
CEA represents the common interests of European insurers by promoting, defending and illustrating their views in international bodies. Via its member national associations, CEA exchanges information and experience between markets by undertaking studies in the interests of European insurance and reinsurance companies; promotes an open insurance and financial services environment in Europe; fosters an orderly and competitive market for institutional investments; promotes a level playing-field with other financial service providers; secures optimal conditions of European Union enlargement for the insurance sector and promotes a European prudential supervisory regime.
As a member of CEA, the Association regularly attends CEA committee meetings, follows developments in the EU single insurance market in Turkey’s EU harmonization process and informs the Turkish insurance sector about the developments at the EU level through reports and working papers.
The Association also hosted the 53rd CEA General Assembly in Istanbul, on 15-17 June 2006, with the participation of high-level officials and managers of European insurance companies and associations. During the three day programme, CEA Heads of Delegation/DG Conference, Committee Chairpersons and Presidential Council meetings were held, as well as the CEA General Assembly followed by a special conference entitled “The Insurance Industry: Meeting New Challenges Facing European Society and Economy”.
As a remembrance of the CEA 2006 General Assembly and a reference book for interested parties, the presentations made during the conference were compiled, published both in Turkish and English and distributed to participants and insurance environs.
