The Association participated to the CEA Ecofin Meeting

On 31 March 2008, the Association participated to the CEA ECOFIN meeting. During the meeting, recommendations on Solvency II submitted to the European Parliament and lobby activities were discussed in detail. Recent developments regarding the Directive on VAT in insurance and financial services were also discussed.
 

The Association participated to the meeting on “Construction All Risk Insurance”

On 1 April 2008, the Association participated to the information meeting on “Construction All Risk Insurance” held by the Turkish Undersecretariat of Treasury, convened for informing related public institutions. During the meeting, the representatives of the Engineering Committee of the Association made detailed presentations on the evolution of engineering insurance and the context and implementation of construction all risks insurance.
 

The Association participated to information meeting on regulation regarding Aviation Insurance

On 3 April 2008, the Association participated to the information meeting on regulation regarding aviation insurance held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was convened with the participation of officials from the Turkish Airlines, the Turkish Undersecretariat of Treasury and the Ministry of Justice. During the meeting, the regulation draft prepared by the Aviation Organization was discussed. The representatives of the Association presented their views on the new regulation on aircraft liabilities for damages to third parties. 
 

The Association held a press conference on “Insurance Sector in 2007”

On 8 April 2008, the Association held its annual press conference on the developments in the Turkish insurance sector in 2007. The conference was hosted by Mr. Hulusi Taşkıran, the President of the Association, Mr. Erhan Tunçay, Secretary General of the Association and Board Members.

During the conference, the Association provided detailed information to press members on the performance of the Turkish insurance sector in 2007, recent regulations and expectations regarding 2008.
 

The Association participated to the Seminar on “Risk Management in the Insurance Sector”

On 15 April 2008, the Association participated to the Seminar on “Risk Management in the Insurance Sector” held at Milli Re. The Association was represented by Onur Acar, Fiscal and Financial Affairs Specialist.

During the first session of the seminar, speakers from Willis Group, London made a presentation on the Solvency II Project. In the second part of the seminar, details about risk management process were discussed and related services offered by Willis were introduced to the participants. 
                                  

The Association participated to the 49th General Meeting of the Turkish Lloyd

On 17 April 2008 the Association participated to the 49th General Meeting of the Turkish Lloyd held at the Turkish Lloyd Foundation in Tuzla. During the meeting, the 2007 Annual report, balance sheet and supervisor reports were presented. At the end of the meeting, 2008 budget was discussed and delegates submitted their petitions to the Council. 
 

The Association participated to the Council of Consumers Meeting

On 17-18 April 2008, the Association participated to the 12th Council of Consumers Meeting at Ministry of Industry and Trade. The meeting was attended by delegates of consumer- related institutions and organizations. During the meeting a presentation was conducted on the relation between legislation on consumers and insurance, opportunities and risks led by insurance practices regarding retail in housing by the Legal Counsel of the Association, Tolga Ceylantepe.
 

The Association held its Annual General Assembly

On 22 April 2008, the Association held its Annual General Meeting. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Hulusi Taşkıran, the President of the Association. During the meeting, the 2007 General Assembly Report was approved and budgetary issues were examined. This was followed by a presentation by Mr. Erhan Tuncay, Secretary General of the Association, on the studies and activities conducted by the Association in 2007.
