The Association of the Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey is a specialist institution with the characteristics of a unique non-governmental institution established by law.

All local or foreign insurance and reinsurance companies operating in Turkey are members of the Association. As of December 2005, the Association has a total number of 55 members, 53 of them being insurance companies and the remaining 2 being reinsurance companies.

As a neutral and reliable authority, the vision of the Association of the Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey is to become the reference institution in the field of insurance through conducting research, activities of publicity and education, organizing and coordinating the activities of all stakeholders in the sector.

-Developing the insurance sector and promoting insurance services

-Monitoring national and international developments and conducting research on insurance

-Providing advice to public authorities

-Establishing relations with similar national and international institutions

-Empowering solidarity between insurance companies

-Producing code of ethics and ensuring unity in practices

-Eliminating unfair competition among members
-Establishing institutions for the development of the insurance profession and providing educational activities
